Established in 1893, US Engineering has grown to be one the nation’s top design-build mechanical contracting firms. Projects have included the Kauffman Center for Performing Arts, H&R Block World Headquarters, Mars Chocolate North America, the University of Colorado Hospital Inpatient Tower and Critical Care Wing, and the NCAR Wyoming Super Computing Center.
Tyler Nottberg is the fifth generation of the Nottberg family to lead U.S. Engineering. His family traces its roots to Cologne, Germany, where Gustav Nottberg started a metalworking shop in 1855.
Tyler served in several roles in the company before taking over as Chairman and CEO. He has been named one of the 250 Most powerful Business Leaders in the Kansas City area by Ingram’s Magazine. He was selected as one of Kansas City’s key executives from non-profit and public-sector settings, those whose day-to-day decisions go a long way toward influencing regional business.

U.S. Engineering was honored among the Business Journal’s Best Places to Work in Kansas City three different times. The company was recently selected for the 2017 Kansas City Business Journal’s Champions of Business award.
Along with serving on a number of nonprofit boards, Tyler is also a founder of the Alliance for Childhood Education. The Alliance is a non-profit, non-partisan coalition of business leaders committed to improving Kansas and Missouri’s education systems. The organization was founded on the premise that the business community has the obligation, opportunity, and capacity to increase the college and workforce readiness of all students through an ambitious, aggressive and comprehensive reform agenda.
