Are you like me and ready to say “BUH-BYE 2021” and “HELLOOOOO 2022!!”
For many people, 2021 was kind of a crazy and challenging year…
Can you relate?
The good news is, now we get to turn the page.
This means it’s the perfect time to create your success plan for the business and life you desire in 2022…
With everything business owners juggle, it’s easy to stay “planning” and never get to the “doing” stage. It’s easy to stockpile planners and map out different scenarios and give up on their plan too soon only to hop onto the next “shiny object.” Or fail to plan and therefore plan to fail as they aimlessly spin with zero direction.
These mistakes are costly. They lead to not getting clients, not making a difference, and not making more money.
I don’t know about you, but I am guessing you don’t want that, do you?
If you’re feeling unsure or unclear about how to hit the ground running in January so that 2022 is your breakthrough year. The year you said, “I did it!”
It’s time to put pen to paper and DESIGN your year.
With so much advice around goals setting, I’ll stress this above all else – find one thing to zero in on. Not 10. Not 5. Just 1 thing that’s a non-negotiable for you in 2022. And then get laser-focused on how you’re going to make it happen.
Answering these three questions will help you do just that.
If you want the complete 2022 Success Planning workshop + 10-page guide (for free) grab it here.
Question 1: What are your three most important achievements or accomplishments in 2021?
Gay Hendrix, author of The Big Leap talks about working in your zone of genius. He says, “In this zone, you capitalize on your natural abilities which are innate, rather than learned. This is the state in which you get into “flow,” find ceaseless inspiration, and seem to not only come up with work that is distinguished and unique, but also do so in a way that excels far and beyond what anyone else is doing.”
As you’re thinking about your achievements, are these what you are passionate about and skills and interests that you are naturally gifted with too? When you can identify what comes most naturally to you, and then capitalize on that, you will strike gold.
Question 2: What three things did you learn from 2021?
Reflect on last year. What worked + what didn’t? Can you identify any places where you were scattered last year trying to do too many things?
Reflecting on the past before you automatically jump into the future will give you a good idea of what you want to repeat from last year and help you recognize what you’re ready to step away from so you can make space for something new.
Vision what that looks like for a minute.
Question 3: Where can you be more focused in 2022?
Now to zero in on 1 thing that feels really important to you. Just like Curly in the movie, City Slickers, talked about the 1 thing – what one thing would move the needle closer to your goals? More importantly, can you commit to that every day?
According to researchers at Duke University, habits account for about 40 percent of our behaviors on any given day. This means that if you want to make a change, it is not enough to aim for one big transformation. Instead, focus on building one new habit at a time.
Breaking the 1 thing (big goal) down into smaller habits will help build momentum and make success feel more attainable each day instead of like an impossible mountain to climb. The habit should be easy enough that you don’t need the motivation to do it. By mastering your behaviors you will be much more likely to succeed in 2022.
Now it’s time to put pen to paper and DESIGN your year.
These three questions are just the beginning.
